International Marriage

In Korea, males and females must be at least 18 years old for marriage. Those under 20 years old must receive permission from their parent or legal guardian to get married. In case of marriage between a Korean and a foreigner, they should register a marriage certificate to a local Si·Gun·Gu Office where the Korean spouse has registered a family relationship certificate.

Required Documents for marriage registration

PROOF OF his/her country citizenship: Any one from the valid country passport, an original certificate of naturalization for naturalized citizen, or a driver’s license.

Affidavit of eligibility for marriage(You should prepare an Affidavit of eligibility for Marriage placed in his/her own country Embassy in advance, and bring the signed document to the Embassy. The Embassy will review the document and notarize your Affidavit of eligibility for marriage)

For second marriage, an original copy of the certificate of Divorce to prove that the previous marriage has ended.
