It is a sadang (ancestral hall) built to remember the loyal soul of General JEONG Gi-ryong, a great commander who defend the country against Japanese Invaders in the Imjin Warn

This Sabeol Wangneung is a royal tomb that appears in the myth. It is difficult to know this tomb because as the time goes by, its story is unclear and there is no historical records found.

The fort wall that follows the geographical features forms a valley as high as 15m, and the parts that are connected to nature rocks are only about 4-5m by building the fort over the rock bed. Also, the width of the fort wall is 4-6m; but, since a complete wall is 6m, it is suspected that initially it was built to have about 6m width. It is very unusual to find this solid and firm stone fort this high and this wide.

Goryeong Gaya Wangneung is located in 7 Jeongchon-ri, Hamchang-eup, Sangju City and the site is the royal tombs of Goryeong Gaya and the tomb site in its east side is told to be a Queen’s tomb. According to Hamchang Eupji, He was the originator of Hamchang KIM and, and was reincarnated later at Gwijinbong - 3 ri toward Garakguk (currently Gimhae Eup) on March 15, 41 (the 18th year of King Yuri, Shilla)

This is a sacred place where 900 soldiers of Joseon Central Army lost their lives in their first battler with Japanese leading unit in 1592 (the Imjin War). When the Imjin War broke out in 1592 (the 25th year of Seonjo), LEE Il (李鎰) was appointed as a provincial governor and his army formed a battle camp in Bukcheon in the north of Sangji. They fought against 17,000 Japanese soldiers led by Gonishi, but failed.
