Reason for designation
- Sangju is the nation's No. 1 dried persimmon production region (60% of national production) due to a climate suitable for dried persimmon production and technological know-how.
- Developing Sangju dried persimmons into a global brand and turning it into a tourism resource by forming a belt of persimmon cultivation areas and developing high-quality and high value-added dried persimmons, and promoting an increase in farm household income and local economic revitalization.
