Details

Hokukseongji was the first place where the first main forces fought by Joseon Central Command and Japanese troops in 1592 (Imjin War). In 1592, when Imjin War arose, Yi Il was appointed as the Sunchalsa and was sent to Sangju and northern Bukcheon. Fought against the 17,000 Japanese soldiers led by Gonisi, but lost.

This place is oriented with the graves of nine patriotic martyrs, including Jongsagwan Yoon Seom, Yi Gyeong-ryu and Park Ho, and Central Command and Pangwan Kwon Gil, Sageundochalbang Kim Jong-mu, Hojang Park Geol, Uibyeongjang Kim Jun-sin, Kim Il and one unknown soldier.

Since 1990, the company has been pursuing a cleanup project and was established as a history education center of history by establishing the Imran Bukcheon Monument. Imnan Bukcheon Battlefield was the Hokukseongji, where Joseon's Central Command and Hyang-gun turned around with the main forces of the Korean Army at the time of the Imjin War. On April 13, 1592, when the army landed in Busan, he hurried south to stop it, and with Joseon’s “Central Command”, which arrived in Sangju on April 23, and over 800 people gathered at night by Pangwan Kwon Gil, Hojang Park Geol in Sangju, these more than 900 people fought against more than 17,000 Japanese soldiers and all died.

Sangju region is also the only province in the country that was graced (恩典, Eunjeon) of Boko (復戶, Jose’s exemption from forced labor) by King Seonjo. Every year on June 4th, the festival is held to celebrate their lives and the site is used as a training center for the history of future generations.
